Our History
The history of the Pardeeville United Methodist Church began with the arrival of the first Methodists in the Wisconsin Territory in 1826, notably Colonel Samuel Ryan, who settled in Green Bay.
As settlers moved into the Pardeeville area in the 1840s, Methodist religious life began to take shape, first with the organization of the Protestant Methodist Church in 1851 at the Marcellon Post Office and later with a Methodist Episcopal class formed at a local schoolhouse in 1864. This early period was characterized by itinerant preachers and "circuits" that served the growing population of the new state.
Leadership within the church saw a long succession of dedicated pastors, including notable figures like Rev. J.L. Huppert and his daughter, Rev. Alma Huppert, who served as pastor from 1944 to 1952. A landmark moment in the church’s leadership occurred in 1929 with the appointment of Rev. Mabel Kaneen, the first woman pastor to serve the congregation. The church also navigated organizational shifts, such as the 1940 merger of various Methodist branches to form the United Methodist Church and the transition of the Ladies Aid Society into the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
The church's survival and growth were heavily supported by its active organizations, particularly the Ladies Aid Society (organized in 1883) and the Epworth League (started in 1889). These groups were the primary fundraisers, hosting annual bazaars and "famous" chicken pie suppers to pay for everything from church repairs and missionary work to the pastor’s salary and community relief. Their efforts extended globally, providing significant financial and material support to missionaries in China, India, and Africa, as well as local aid to hospitals and needy families.
Throughout its history, the church has remained a cornerstone of the Pardeeville community, frequently holding union services with local Presbyterian, Baptist, and Free Methodist congregations. It hosted diverse events ranging from gospel temperance rallies and missionary lectures to youth programs like the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF). Despite challenges such as smallpox quarantines and local fires, the congregation maintained a steady focus on spiritual growth, community service, and its enduring mission in the Pardeeville area.
The physical presence of the church was solidified in 1861 when the Pardeeville Methodist Episcopal Church was constructed at the corner of Wisconsin and East Chestnut Streets at a cost of $1,800. Over the decades, the facility underwent significant transformations, most notably in 1910 when the building was raised to add a basement and updated with new pews and stained-glass windows. Other modernizations followed, such as the installation of electric lights in the parsonage in 1911 and the continuous upkeep of the sanctuary and parsonage through various renovation projects over the next century.

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ! I am blessed to be your pastor!
Born in Thailand, and growing up in the Madison area, I have been blessed with a faith family who adopted me and taught me the importance of family, God, generosity, hard-work ethic, and serving others. From high school I graduated from UW-Whitewater and entered Seminary. During Seminary, I realized the calling God had for me and I fully embraced the pastoral life and ministry. It was also during Seminary, God partnered me with my other half who helps me in ministry. We do ministry together.
My family consists of my faith partner who is from the Philippines and our son, who was adopted as well. Together, we enjoy football, outdoor activities, food and people.
God has given me many gifts, one of them is the ability to develop and sustain earthly relationships. I enjoy helping others develop and sustain a spiritual relationship with God through his Son, Jesus Christ. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I hope to walk with you in your spiritual journey so that you might know God’s love in your life.

I love doing God’s work. I have been the secretary for Pardeeville UMC for the past twenty years. I am the first face that people see when they come to our church.
Whether it is getting bulletins and powerpoint ready for Sunday services, connecting people with the right people, or organizing the daily calendar of events and activities, you can count on me to serve God and this wonderful faith community.

Beth has grown her love to worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth over the last 50 years at Pardeeville. As a young girl she played piano and eventually moved into learning the organ. Beth enjoys helping people feel the presence of the Lord during worship thru music and singing. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." "If we don't praise the Lord even the rocks will cry out."
